The month of June was one of the most adventurous months of this year for me. If you’ve been following along my #35to35 on social media, you have a glimpse of me chiseling away at my birthday bucket list.
The last 35 days have included incredible experiences of love, life, and inspiration. What started as a birthday countdown has evolved into so much more. I’ll be sharing more in the next few weeks, but for now, I’ll share my biggest take away. Richie Norton, author of The Power of Starting Something Stupid, couldn’t have said it better: “Live to start. Start to live.” (Gavin’s Law)
The treehouse adventure was not only a bucket list item, but a complete surprise for my husband, Khaled. His birthday is a week after mine and I wanted to make it unforgettable.
Last year, a friend (and super-talented photographer) had featured this set of magical treehouses on his blog, and I was instantly smitten. Without a second thought, I got on Airbnb and booked our weekend getaway immediately!
As much as I give my imagination credit, it could never have prepared me for the romantic and peaceful weekend that awaited Khaled and I among the trees in a gorgeous Atlanta neighborhood. We were transported to another era. With a (surprisingly powerful) little vintage fan blowing, jazz music playing in the air, watching the summer day turn into night on the most comfortable bed under the trees, I had to pinch myself a few times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
I’m a big foodie, so the fact that this experience was in-town and minutes from some out-of-this-world fabulous restaurants was a big hit with me! Thanks to our wonderful host, Peter, that recommended the best eats and made our stay incredible with his attention to detail. When you go, definitely keep Watershed, Hankook, and West Egg Cafe on your radar.
I’m obsessed with this creative short film Khaled created of our time at such a special place. It brings me right back to the moments and it is a gift I’ll treasure always.
