Happy Friday and first day of June! It’s my birthday month, so it’s my favorite month of the year. That and its the middle of the year, kind of like the glass half empty/half full. There’s a lot of change in six months so during this month I like to analyze my January goals and see where I’m at, where I need to be, and where I want to go.

This week I’ve been reflecting on the importance of always shooting with a fresh eye. It’s an art in itself. The skill of combining your expertise and experience that you’ve acquired over time while not loosing the curiosity of a toddler. Khaled and I like to challenge ourselves and practice this skill by shooting our subjects in ways we normally wouldn’t consider. For example, taking a vase of flowers in the office and shooting it everyday differently. What once may have seemed like there was only one or a few ways to shoot it becomes an opportunity to think out of the box.

I created this visual reminder with a quote that puts this thought into perspective for me.

As we prepare for a wedding this weekend, I hope to toss out my preconceived ideas, have a fresh perspective and look at my subjects not as I think they are, but as how they can be.

Have a great weekend and if you’re shooting weddings this weekend, hope this inspires you to challenge yourself and have fun!

P.S. This is my first attempt at writing a blog post from my iPhone, hopefully there’s no glitches or too many typos. :)
