Every wedding we capture is special to Khaled and I, however, you can imagine the flood of emotions when one of my best friends asked me to be her wedding photographer. The icing on the cake was when she asked me to also stand by her side as one of her bridesmaids. If you know me personally, you know that challenge is my middle name.

We’ve known Gabi and Garrett since college, and seeing their beautiful relationship grow over the years has been a blessing to our family. I’m grateful I was able to experience their special day as both a bridesmaid and photographer; it was one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve experienced. It allowed me to experience the behind-the-scenes view of the wedding in a different light. During the moments of sharing laughs, sipping mimosas and getting our hair and makeup beautifully done by Collective Creations, I was thankful for our friendships and how much love surrounded the bride.

There were times when my fingers itched to pick up the camera and capture a moment during the ceremony; instead, I was able to live in the moment and take mental pictures that I will cherish forever. I can’t thank my husband and business partner, Khaled, enough for stepping up and making that possible. We also thank our children, Karina and Jared, who were lighting assistants, bag-holders, and even captured some key moments throughout the day. It was such a blessing coming together as a family to celebrate such a special couple in our lives.

Throughout the years of our friendship, both Gabi and Garrett have displayed kindness, warmth, and a beautiful love that was reflected perfectly on the day of their wedding. Their happiness was contagious during the reception, everyone was glowing with smiles and busting a move on the dance floor, especially Jared.

At the end of the night, guests waved around sparklers that reflected golden light onto the beautiful couple as they made their exit. It’s been an honor to witness their blessed journey and to experience their wedding as both photographer and guest. Below are some of our favorite moments from that day:
